Renault 4 Chassis for sale £200
I have a Renault 4 Chassis for sale. The chassis is left over from an unfinished
project. Repairs have been carried out as necessary for the MOT, including
jig welding of the rear suspension inner mountings. Contact Contact
or phone 01234 881152. The buyer will have to collect the chassis as I have
no suitable transport. I am located close to Bedford UK.
My aim for the car was to prepare it to be trouble free for maybe 3 to 5
years. The chassis should manage this without problems, but the rest of the
car would have cost too much money so was scrapped.
Click on the photographs for larger versions. The photographs were taken
on a sunny day, and it's difficult to see the details, so I've described the
condition as accurately as possible in the words below.

This chassis is probably the most sound chassis I've ever seen on
a Renault 4. It came from a 60,000 mile car that had been owned by an
elderly couple, then ruined for three years by a subsequent owner.
There are a couple of dents in the chassis. One is visible at the top
of the side rail to the right of this photograph. There is a small amount
of jacking damage under the side rail on the other side. |

The rear suspension inner mountings have been repaired using a jig
to ensure correct alignment. The outer mountings are solid, although
there is some evidence that the LHS outer mounting will soon need a
small repair where the side of the chassis meets the floor. |

The black paint covers a patch under the passenger floor. The chassis
would benefit from some further welding inside the passenger footwell,
although this would not be an MOT requirement.
The black paint towards the rear of the chassis is covering areas that
will probably need a patch in the next couple of years. |

Here is the detail of the rear inner suspension mount repair. It
was done with a jig, so the holes are in the right place, but while
it is strong enough and will last the car out, it isn't concours restoration
neat. |

Some rust. This is the triangle at the front of the chassis. It is
rusty, but will pass an MOT test, so I didn't repair it. |

The rear outer suspension mount. No repairs here. The rust you can
see in the photo is surface rust - just needs painting. |

Detail of the rear suspension outer mounting. You can see some distortion
of metal around the spot weld towards the top centre of the photo. This
is characteristic of rust between the skins of metal that make up the
rear suspension mounting. I would expect this on most UK cars, but it
does indicate that the rust has started and repairs will be needed in
a few years time. |

A vies of the chassis side showing the jacking damage.
There is also a dent at the top of the chassis inside the passenger
door. It's tricky to photograph at the moment as the chassis is boxed
in at the side of a barn, but you can make it out on the first photo
on this page.
