Today I've been helping out a friend with a restoration of his R4F4 estate.
Unfortunately we did not get the engine in today because it turned out that it had a shot head gasket.

I little down I went home to Breda. And when I arrived at my work shed My spirits lifted.
One of my mates brought this baby Home.IMG_0156.jpg

That is lovely must be 62 63 basic model 4 I guess
Question I wondered about that type of front bumper won't the bonnet hit the overriders when it is opened

No, the bonnet is not hitting the overriders.

But in the sequel to the Look what I found when I came home. I was pleasantly surprised to find a superbly restored Sinpar F4 with a 1400 cc motor in our workplace today

Slovenian plates.....nice one....
imported in UK?

Do you know who restored car?

Hi Petak,

The person that brings in all the beautiful cars is from Slovenia.
I'm not from the UK we have our workplace in the south of the Holland.

Sorry harbourseal for missplacing you...
Is this persons name Jan? Maybe

Cool, a genuine Plein Air.
A mate and I are looking at making one (or two - one each) out here. We have the instruction document and the necessary abundance of confidence (cockiness?)
What we've been lacking is sizes and dimensions.

Might we ask you to measure some aspects from time to time?
Once we've worked out the dimensions to make the conversion parts, we'll of course post the info for posterity

Well what can I say this is a fantastic acquisition

The car of my dreams from the day my dad bought a 1964 4L me still a young child in 1972
At this age I was already reading car books and magazines and research led me to the Plein Air
Fast forward to 1985 when I first bought my 1978 LHD F4 van for £200
Within a week I had driven it to my workshop and got my marker pen and angle grinder out
Of course if a GENUINE Plein Air had come my way I guess I would of had to buy that as well

It is indeed a fantastic find.
And I think it will be good fun driving it next summer.
Might even bring it to renaultoloog next September.
Brakes and engine need some work. And the body needs some attention for its quite dented and rusty in some places.

Geoff you are welcome to ask for measurements.
I'll keep the tape measure handy.

Fantastic catch!

Where do you find all that nice R's?

I can feel breeze on face in hot spring day cruising by the sea!

All these cars are from France,
One off the guys in our collective has a friend in France with his fingers in about every corner where 4L are being sold.
He searches for the rarest.

But some of them we found on leboncoin.
