Rear suspension knock

Hi all,
My 1981 R4 GTL has a 'knocking' sound when travelling. I first suspected rear shocks but now also suspect the rear torsion bars. Does anyone know how to adjust the rear torsion bars and has anyone else had this problem?

Probably the inner silentblock is failing.

Hi Malc

Possibly rear suspension mount has come adrift from box section which runs length of side of car (as you look to the left of your wheel, component with circular center). Common problem with Renault 4's, area would need welding. Jack up car, move wheel in an up and down motion and check for movement in this area. Also visual check for corrosion/fractures to metal.
