    Not igniting without help

Yeah. Would you say cold air intake is better or placing the intake tube on the exhaust is a better option? It makes no difference while turning it on for sure, but while on running temperature and driving? My mechanic told me to always have it connected so warm air goes into it. But afaik cold...

    Not igniting without help

Fresh Petrol. Could the humidity be the issue? It’s been really humid and foggy. It just doesn’t want to ignite, takes a long time of trying even if it’s been still for not even half a day. Few hours is fine, 10 hours and it may well be 3 days. I feel like maybe the fuel pump is defective, but...

    Not igniting without help

Yup, did that. I basically did everything I could and knew how to do. Loosening the mixture screw helped, but I have yet to go on a ride and see if the performance is better or worse this way. I’ve seen on a Croatian forum, some people put carburetors from a Zastava (if you’re at all familiar...

    Not igniting without help

Probably in the factory when it was made :’D I did buy an engine that supposedly had 100k km, and another mechanic serviced it, but I’m not sure he set the valve clearance. Would I be able to do it myself? I know I need those thin metal thingies to do so.

    Not igniting without help

Okay, so, after loosening the mixture screw, 5 (I don’t think this is a correct measurement unit, since it only applies to me, because I used my fingers as a reference and not actual screw turns) turns, it turned on with not a lot of effort, 3 turns made it want to(if you know what I mean, that...

    Not igniting without help

Yeah, it’s weird because it did turn on with no issues, as we say on the first tooth. After tinkering with the mixture screw, it wouldn’t. But it now runs smoothly while driving, It doesn’t even need the choke to be pulled a bit like it used to. Weird. I don’t know about electric fuel pumps...

    Not igniting without help

Perhaps my post isn’t clear enough. The car runs fine, and smooth, it’s just the first time starting it after it had been still for a day, that it does not start without some fuel sprayed directly in the carburetor. It has power, goes over 100kmh on a flat road, idles well, does not stall or...

    Not igniting without help

Greetings friends. I have recently managed to make my 4 run again and register it. Passed MoT with no issues. Now, after some tinkering with idling and the mixture screw, it runs really smoothly and idles well, but it won’t start at all, no matter how long I try. I squirt some zippo lighter...

    Odometer/Speedometer

Grazie Leonardo for the reply. Interesting. Would you care to share more info, or when it’s done? I’m curious about your take on it! They claim the gps ones are real time..the refresh rate should be high, almost one per second or a few if so. I’ll check a few reviews of those wired ones, maybe...

    Odometer/Speedometer

Hello everyone, I wanted to inquire about “add on” speedometers/odometers. I have seen a couple of those digital ones from wish or eBay and such, from cheap to expensive. Does anyone have some experience and/or still uses one of them? Some are supposed to have a gps integrated and keep track...

    Painting Whitey

So, the whole day was just grinding and sanding, it seems my bonnet is very rusty.. I did clear it from the paint as I was sure there was more rust, even tho it didn't go through the paint yet, but it would have, eventually. Going to fine sand it tomorrow. I'll see how much I need to...

    Painting Whitey

Thank you JdeW, I'll definitely check it out! Also, today's progress down below. Managed to disassemble the right one, was a pain to be honest, the screws inside were covered with paint so had to clean them first. Doesn't look too bad, not too rusty either, but I noticed the car has been...

    Painting Whitey

Yes, I saw various articles, but I was more interested in your opinions here, since it is more on topic, thank you. I'll post further progress.

    Painting Whitey

Thank you, very helpful. Yes, already begun sanding. I'll remove it for sure. But I'll keep sanding it on the spot since I find it easier, at least the rust spots and the "rough" work. I don't really have a place that's spacious enough and sturdy enough to place it on. The stucco and...

    Painting Whitey

So, if I want to go to work with it, it should at least be free of rust and somewhat presentable, so here it goes. Day one, grinding off rust spots, and sanding it before applying the car kit, before the primer. Any suggestions welcome!

    Whitey and the process

Yeah, a friend had an original GTL that went so fast.. I'll have to visit a mechanic, as I don't have the slightest clue on how and what to do.. Just been with uad, man, that thing flies :clapping: Fells so nice too, unlike any R4 I've ever had the pleasure to be driven in. A beast.

    Whitey and the process

I'd say the hole where the fuel level thingy goes in, as it only leaks when it's completely full. That's my first guess, as it did not leak before I took the tank down to clean it, I must've closed it not good enough or placed the rubber in a wrong manner.

    Whitey and the process

Hey guys, perhaps a silly question, but, since my fuel tank is leaking a bit when full, I'm guessing from the fuel gauge entry, what are the chances of it catching on fire from driving 40-50km in one direction, would the exhaust heat up enough or some spark that could ignite it?

    Whitey and the process

Will do! When? And you'll have to tell me where exactly, I'll send you a regular message now. If I come, I'd like to do so with my 4, there shouldn't be overheating issues with these temperatures outside and my working cooler now, I hope

    Whitey and the process

Yep, I will be doing that at the end of summer/early winter. However, I might get my hands on another GTL that has good parts so I'll "refurbish" or renew all the parts worth taking and set them aside, working little by little. When all is done, I'll replace everything I can. The biggest issue...
