Hello I have recently become the proud owner of the above Renault. There have been many incidental repairs proposed by my local mechanic to get it through this years MOT.
One of which is the replacement of the hand brake cables.
I have sourced a few and they be been incorrect.
So wondered if anyone knew what kind I would need.
I need front and back of course.
But I get confused about whether right of left means anything.
My Renault is left hand drive.
Can anyone help?
Cheerio

Natalie, Welcome. I am also in Kent (Aylesford), so where are you as I may be able to help. Have you been to 'Guides' at the top of this page to see the usual specialists? Try giving Paul Cunningham (Mr.Reno on these pages) who is in Worthing on 07973423795 and may help. Your handbrake should have a pair of cables which operate the rear brakes (so no 'front' or 'back') and my copy of the Melun catalogue lists them (www.melun-retro-passion.com) as will the other suppliers. Quite a few of the smaller parts are available from your local auto parts shop, and if not, they can order them to arrive within within 24hrs. Lots of help on here and you won't be stuck for long. Beige is nice ;-)

(Later) I wonder if you were searching for the cables on the Der Franzose website catalogue. I find their online catalogue a bit difficult to follow and the translation a bit wonky at times. Yes, they use 'front' and 'back' too but are probably referring to the early drum braked cars which your GTL isn't.

Thanks Paul & Lobster... will make some calls over the weekend!... much appreciate the info..
