Hot Air Feed to Air Filter

I am interested in whether it is better to feed hot air to the air filter or not.
I can remember from the dim and distance past reading that cold air is better.

Do I remove the fitment to the exhaust pipe that picks up hot air and utilising 51mm tubing feeds it to the air filter?

I had thought about a KN cone type filter direct to the existing air filter, locating it down towards the headlight unit.

Opinions comments appreciated please. Thanks

According to my R4 drivers handbook, if the air temperature drops below 5 degrees Celsius, you then need to direct the air intake pipe towards the exhaust. This is to stop the carburettor icing up.

OK noted. Thanks for that.

Then again if you do have the heated carburator like you and I do have @Cornish4 you don't need the heated up air. I do have a K&N cone open air filter on my F6 And it sits nicely at the front almost next to the radiator.
