HOT or not?

Don't forget in 1981 a 5 speed 1108 mk1 r5 had the more powerful engine using the 32mm carburettor and better compression ratio and camshaft and a bit more aerodynamic
All these cars are long gone from scrapyards with production ending in 1984

1108 R4 built 78 to 93 with production numbers far greater worldwide and far more surviving cars now looking for the elusive upgrade parts

In a flat country like the Netherlands, it might be useful to have a 5 speed gearbox on a 1108 engine. But on the slightest uphill you will have no gain from a 5 speed gearbox. In practice you will probably be driving more in 4th gear. Even for me, I won't take the trouble and effort to fit a 5 speed.

Blimey Petak Thats a very full answer! Very much appreciated all of you:hug: and some gems of information. Its clear I should stick to the gearbox its intended to have and do a little mild tuning on the input side
