How do i get the gear stick out of the transmission block?

Hi all,

I've undone the little screw at the base of the gear stick where it actually enters the transmission block.

Haynes says that the gearstick should just pull up and away.

I've given it a good yank but nothing.

Any help much appreciated.

I mean there's a lock-ring on the underside of the lid. I might be proven wrong as it's been a while tho'.... -R.

Hmm can't quite remember but I'm fairly sure the lid of the gearbox would need removing
