misfire any ideas ?

help, my 82, gtl has started misfiring badly, explosions and lack of power, only just got back home. so far have changed the distributor, coil, condensor ht leads and cleaned out the carb. I AM STUMPED. any suggestions please ??

Could be timing. Maybe the distributor has become loose and has rotated.
Check if its loose.

Could also be loose or damaged contact points causing bad timing.

changed the dist and checked the points with a dwell meter so am doubtful if that's the problem

Try compression test maybe a valve problem have had pushrod come adrift with loose valve clearance adjusting screw
if the exhaust is not opening compression will show as good on testing but backfire through carb on running

check for vacuum leaks perticularly the pipe from the from the center of the inlet manifold.

Happened to me recently, intermittent misfire, changed everything incl carb, dist, coil, condenser, turned out to be ht lead arcing out ..... might be an idea to run engine in a dark place and check for arcing.
