Some progress today, cleaned the carb out for the fourth time, then tweaked the timing slightly it is BETTER not 100% but much smoother at low revs, I am determined to get the RIGHT ignition parts next and start again. The engine does run nicely no other issues other than the poor low speed running. I don't think I really needed another engine just to step back and persevere on the parts issue.

TOP man , sometimes it gets like this with our babys but after a bit of tinkering and so forth we all get there in the end .and after a few days all is well. good luck .

I love the military cars. Good luck with getting the R4 running. Don't be to slight at advancing the ignition.
With the modern petrol you will be way off with the factory setting.

I am ordering points etc so could we do it when I have got them to hand ? I am around most of the time too so should be easy to sort a time to suit us both.
