Renault 4 Super. 1962. The Clean Up.

The Renault 4 super was driven outside and given a good scrub up.

The rear glass that slides down was carefully lubricated down the edges and slid down into the tailgate.

The tailgate was then opened.

The plywood panels were removed from the inside to lubricate the mechanism.

The engine bay was given a bit of a clean and the original paintwork revealed some black numbers which I presume are body numbers.

The next job is to replace the seized braking components.

The black numbers are paint code 412 (Ile de France blue) and I believe upholstery (S1 is a woven cloth salt and pepper with maybe a faint blue tinge to it according to my somewhat faded manual))

Just noticed that your fan shroud is metal (rusty colour gave it away). I wonder when they changed over to plastic?

Around 1975 did they change to plastic fan.

I see that the "devil" sticker on the rocker cover is still there...very well preserved car!

Mind you damp ground/ dew can rot from the bottom up
