Rene C303 and Savanna

Well prob should start up a thread in here again since my project is moving slowly again.

After stripping Rene as far as poss for Renospeed, I thought it might be best to get him out of the drive and into storage while he waits for his time to be fixed up

Local car transporter loved seeing the cars

Which means Savanna came home to be worked on and see what can happen,

I never got a V5 when I bought Savanna so filled in a V62 to get one, got a letter from the DVLA to say she has been scrapped :O and they want lots of details to figure out the error on their data base. Now she was last taxed in 2002, over ten years ago so no doute she as got her way onto the list of the forgotten.

BUT! the little 950cc engine turns over by hand, got nothing on the key so when teh inner wings come off i'll have full access to the engine. Just this blasted cold weather and the daily being fussy.

Santa has been! and he popped by the guys at http://www.r-quatre.nl/index.php to pick Rene up some parts for the engine.

Ignore the smaller parcel, thats new vacuum lines for my VW Bora.

gaskets, little odd things and stuff

New clutch to deal with all that Renault 4 GTL power!

Looks like I better get Rene's engine sorted out, and sort out that CBR400RR bike carb set up and talk to a local custom shop about a stainless exhaust system.

I appear again from the world of dubs and motorbikes.

Now only own my trusted Fazer as I had to part with my lovely but expensive Triumph :'(

Now, althou the images have gone AWOL, the posts say I bought a 4TL off of ebay in hopes of a quick run around and parts but when she landed on my drive and I gave her a closer look, I saw she needed a lot of work I couldn't do to her just to get her back on teh while my special R4, C303 was heading to Renospeed so she kinda sat while I played with my Bora for a long time.

Well, last week Rene met Derek at Renospeed a bit more naked then last year, Derek felt I had gone OTT on the strip down thou >.>

My modified Bora with Rene and Matt's Loader who kindly moved my R4 for me

Rene has a lot of rust and the rear drivers wheel well is just a nightmare so Savanna kinda had to face the angle grinder and become scrapped for a 2nd time

I'm sorry I couldn't save this R4, too a long a list of issues and with another one closer to my heart with a longer list of needed parts I saw only one way

Also Savanna's chassis will be up for sell soon as it seems overall in pretty good shape still. The 950cc turns over by hand but haven't played iwth much other then taking the dizzy apart and then forget how it goes together again

Paint next week, its taking so long but he'll be brillant once finished, already planning two roadtrips with him. (Gf knows about one, not the other >.>)

So parts have gone off to paint, guy had them soda bl asted, lets say Rene has some history hidden beneath his paintwork
The guy said he started hitting one door and filler was all that was coming off for a good while, but he can get the door back into a good shape he thinks.


so that hole got proper big!



Least I have a spare to make a good out of the two

Hopefully going smooth on teh gtl doors and then having it done up with some stripes going down the side as a replacement.

So dug out a new door for paint from Savanna but also collected another set of wheels off of Member Dave Z. Hope they finish of Rene 303 just as much as he hoped they would finish off his R4 Van.

looking good, you just have to be patient and take it as it comes but it does take time to get everything right especially when they've had a lot of usage or neglect also trying to find descent parts and the time to do it. The one i'm doing went well to start with then hold ups with one thing and another but getting there now.
Supa slots looks nice but you're gonna have to keep them clean to look good.

yea, tempted just to put them on at shows or for photos. Bandeds for everything else.
