If I try to setup 810 motor 1289 cm3 from R5 TS to my R4 R1123 does it fit ?

810 R5 is from year 1980 and my R4 845 cm3 800-01 from 1974.

How about gearbox, can I use my old one or need "new" and how about drive shafts, are they same
or different ?

Edit: from year 1980 , I heard one place, not no ditails.

What kind of engine are you replacing?
iIf it's a gtl you can use that gearbox. If not you need to get another bellhouse for the R5 gearbox. And a shorter prise axle.
Or you can take a chunk out of the front traverse.

R4 r1123 is 845cc lots of work unless it's already got 1108 setup
Searching back a few years I have cover this before
1108 gtl is virtually plug and play

I dont know motor code: only that 810. ( 23 or 25 or else ??? )

This is 1289 cm3 : not that 1108 one which is not too difficult to setup - needs litttle welding.

It is from year 1980.

What means "shorter prise axle" ?

Frank, the 1108 and your 1298
Are the same in dimensions.
No trouble in fitting it.

I wonder what engine type you have in your car now.
Then we can tell you how easy it is to replace the current engine with the 1298cc
The prise axle is the axle that goes from the gearbox into the engine.
Both the bell house and that axle are 1 cm longer in the R5 so if you have a 1108 engine with a matching gearbox on your R4 now use that gearbox. And leave the R5 gearbox be.

My old Mohikan is typical 845 cm3 800-01 R1123 export limousine. Gearbox 354-29. Clutch is 160 mm. Drive shaft is about 695-700 mm.

That 1108 has bigger timehead, which need to take some part away and do little box inside the cabin.
If 1289 is same....

Frank,
No need to take a grinder to your firewall.
You need to get a GTL gearbox. That will save you some work.
You do need to make some other changes underneath the bonnet.
Please look it up in the topics regarding your questions.

One centimeter is not much....I can take motor 1 cm back....

Excuse me Frank,
The only thing you wil gain from not buying a Renault 4 GTL gearbox is a load of work.
It just won't fit the easy way.
If you take the engine 1 cm back, you have to take a chunk out of your chassis to make it fit.
You have to rebuild the engine supports on the chassis.
The alignment of the drive shafts wil be off.

If I were you I'd go for the easy way. And dont say i did not warn you.
Good Luck with your project.

That is concerning a 5 speed gearbox Frank.
Your easy way out is either changing the bell house or putting in a GTL gearbox the ratio's are the same.
Do not forget that you have to change the engine mounts on both sides. Get a bigger radiator and place that to the front of the car. Put a traverse over the engine to be able to do gear changes.
The drive shafts are plug and play so no worries there.
But I understand that you want to try out your welding skills to;).

Good luck again
