Hello all,

Just got back from the Festival of the Unexceptional at Claydon Estate in Buckinghamshire. I’d heartily recommend this to anyone who has fond memories of everyday cars of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

There was possibly more interesting metal in the car park than the show itself. Didn’t see any R4’s (criminal!) but spotted the following...

R6 MK1 in the parking area looked like an honest workhorse -

A Mk2 model was in the concours - looked like they’d polished the original paint (through to the base in places) and refurb’d the wheels - lovely comfy looking interior -

Meanwhile back in the parking area I found this R16 - I do have a soft spot for these - looking v similar to one for sale on eBay not so long ago -

There was lots of other non-Renault interest of course. Lovely to see each of these cars being kept going and used in the manner they should be by their caring owners - big salute all-round.

I wonder if any forum members would be interested in fielding a R4 next year? 2CV’s and Dyanes were represented - can’t let them have all the limelight ;)

Best wishes, Simon.

That’s so interesting - thank you for sharing . My long gone friend (gone before his time) was a Renault fitter and had a R8 Gordini then a R16 . I only knew the 16 - such a comfy ride and so quiet. Our neighbour opposite had them 3 or 4 in succession and always looked after them. At the time I used to think they were bit wacky a bit French ! We had an Austin Cambridge held together with kitty kat tins and pop rivets! Had we known we would have swapped anyday for such serene comfort

Hi R25 limo is Paul Cunninghams aka Mr Reno and looks like the R16 he has just recomissiond. Looks like a good day out ..

Ah thanks @Simon Sapsted - I thought I’d seen that R25 somewhere...

Hello @Lobster - F6 looking v lovely there. There always seem to be more road trips than time or money to go on them all! Hope you’ve been having a great time at Thenay -

Best wishes, Simon.

I enjoyed the day out
