I noticed you installed your wrapped "spaghetti" manifold.
Question; Why a 4-1 instead of a 4-2-1?
This manifold was available for little money. so I went for this one. Its new old stock. Doesn’t look that it was ever used.
The new ones from Mecaparts cost about €300,- This one only €100,-

I've only seen 4-1 systems for a R4.
I understand that a 4-1 system is for high refs and thus performance and race purposes as the 4-2-1 system for low and mid range refs thus road performance. I've allready done my calculus on a stainless 4-2-1 as I've not yet seen a 4-2-1 on the market.
Any experience yet with your 4-1?
 
And some more work done.
Cleaning off about 35 years of grime, grease and other stuff that doesn’t belong on the inner wings.
By absence of a powerwasher. I’ve done it all by manual labor with a good good detergent, a dish brush and a scratchpad.

It is correct, usually 4-2-1 are more suited for a road use, but it's not the only thing that improve low revs torque instead of pure power.
Also the length and the diameter of the pipes are important.

I'm trying to design a 4-2-1 system as I work for a company that produces pipe bender and I do hope to find a way to fit a good one under the bonnet, but it's not easy, especially for LHD cars there isn't plenty of room to do a proper good designed manifold
 
And a little progress.
Fitted and tweaked two polyester front wings. Instead of the French nut plates I used M6 rivetnuts to attach them to the body and chassis. And I put the white painted roof on for final fitting. Did you made those polyester wings or bought them somewhere?

Where and how much did you payed them if you bought them?
 
A Slovenian friend gave them to me. He had them in his possession for some time. He thinks that he got them from the Mlinar brothers many moons ago.
I know that Vincent Tournier makes them as well. If you have Facebook you can find him there.
 
They are looking so nice.....

Are the hard as metal one?
How tick are they?
How hard is to bend them when you twist them? Comparing to metal one.

It is easier to make mold for inner wings than outer wings.
 
Finally I found some time to work on the vagabond.
I installed both the new inner wings.
And yes Hrvoje they are just as strong as the steel version. Once installed these polyester wings feel quite rigid.

I worked on the upper traverse today.
Had to take a big chunk out to make it clear the spaghetti manifold.

I also had to fabricate the bracket that holds the the upper traverse to the right side inner wing.
A nice enough job with a piece of 1,5mm sheat metal.

Underneath the wing I put a strip of aluminum to distribute the force of the bolts on the fiberglass wings.

And the end result isn’t bad either.

Hi there Robert, I would fabricate some shielding for that upper rad.hose too as it gets Prettey D*** hot right above that exh.joint.
I made a shield out of (thin) alu wrapped in loose layers around the hose.. Guess what? -it melted! ... Also I'd mount a shield around
the exh.exit (hole through inner wing).... just mentioning Take care/-R
 
Thank you Reid. I’ll Do that. The exhaust manifold has been wrapped. I don’t know how much heat that shields. But better safe than sorry.
