We have developed two issues with our 1989 TL, any help or advice appreciated!
First we have developed a high pitched squeak, mostly in first and second gear, it is a constant purr almost like a whistle, it disappears in 3rd and 4th.
Secondly after a reasonably short journey the drivers side...
Where do you put the coolant? Is that a daft question? Sorry.
Also the water pump bottle near the bulkhead has some lovely cream sludge in it .... any suggestions?
Well, turns out easy enough 50€ supplied and fitted, but it’s one of the cogs that caused it to snap as this is sticking. It also makes a lovely squeal every now and then ... obviously needs replacing, should be fun trying to locate the part ... anyone know who is good for parts in Spain?

We ran the car for about 10km without knowing what had happened. Would this have caused any lasting damage?
Might seem like a daft question ... while I wait for my Haynes manual to be delivered... what’s the round thing at the top of the engine? I have steam coming out ....
We’ve just acquired our Renault 4 so are still swotting up and finding out what’s what.
But I have noticed some pull back - when driving especially in 2nd & 3rd gear the car seems to pull back, i.e. feels like it wants to backwards or a jerk if you like. It’s hard to describe but I’m sure...
We’ve just bought a 1989 R4 TL, one owner from new, very solid with 68,000km on the clock, documented.
Cosmetically challenged but that doesn’t worry us, cars get battered in Spain, simply just by leaving it in a parking space in town!!
