Today I purchased 1984 first series R11 GTL from first owner with just 30 000 kms on the clock. :o:o:o Car is in perfect condition, out of the road for 9 years, kept in dry garage. Starts and drives great, interior is in perfect condition, everything works, surface rust on exhaust and reservoir only. Body and paint in factory shape. Brakes are sticky but altogether this was great purchase  Only thing that is missing are yellow bulbs
Few photos so you can see, it will be more when it gets home. Until then, enjoy :drunk:

Congratulations Mario, nothing nicer than getting a "new" car! And in fantastic condition too!

Very nice one this R11 GTL and instantly twice the bhp then the R4 GTL :D

As I promised, here it is. The beauty is at home :D
Since the car was running, I took temporary plates, put 10 liters of petrol and drove it cca. 20 kms to my home. Everything was ok, brakes were a little bit sticky, but when I passed a few kms, they were ok. I was a little bit scared, because car was out of the road for 10 years so I drove it very gently. I noticed that it is loosing a lot of coolant (read at the end), 2 bulbs are not working, but everything else was just fine. :D
And the smell... oh, if you could just feel that beautiful smell of a new car  Now, here are the images, so you can see that great condition. :D

So, I mentioned the leaking coolant. Today I found out where it leaks... unfortunately, probably the whole board would have to come out :/ If some of you have a experience with this, please feel free to post something :D

Now, the plan is to change all the liquids, rubber hoses, breaks, clean the reservoir and rear suspension, protect it, renew the wheels, polish it, put yellow bulbs and keep it as much as possible at this "new" condition :D

If you have some advice for what to look on at the car that stayed that long, feel free to write. Thank you :drunk:

Really does look a great one!, with an original interior as good and clean as that I’d be looking for seat covers if your intending putting it to ‘ normalish ‘ use.
I would service it as you have stated, but really I would do as little work to it as required, a car is only ever original untouched once, if you have a genuine time capsule car in excellent original condition the more you do to it the further from original untouched it becomes.

Seat covers were on seats, I removed them. I won't put it in normal use, it will be a shame to destroy it in regular every day traffic. I will do whatever it needs to be useful and in showroom condition.

Very nice example
Lots of mechanical parts on these are the same as the super Cinque 5 which replaced the R4 based original 5 model
The leaking heater matrix is the identical part too
On RHD models it is easier job as it can be slid out without removing dashboard
Unlikely to be possible with pedals in the way

... if you could just feel that beautiful smell of a new car ....
The smell of a new OLD car hmmm :D
But sure what a magnificent find :clapping:and just a few bits to sort out but after all stunning!
Cheers.

I am not sure if I catch you :D So you think that the dashboard have to come out? Can I remove the heather trough the right side or just trough the left?

Thank you very much!
Yes, it is not stinky it is just beautiful smell of a new car :D

Officially on rhd it's dash out
I have only worked on rhd and it is just possible to slide matrix out if assistant keeps tension on pulling casing in to car and it slides across to the left
Read the book or ask in your country

Hello! So today I got myself a very much to do
I replaced the heater matrix. First, we got seats out, then dashboard. It was very tricky, but nothing is broken... YET :clapping: Unfortunately, the whole dashboard needs to come out, so it looks like this. :o

Then we got the carpet out, I will clean it over the weekend

Floors washed from coolant, and without any rust, literally like new

That is all for now because I cannot put together the central console without carpet. I will clean the carpet on the weekend, and then install it next week. Until then... regards :waving:

A lovely car. There really is nothing to beat the originality of an honest and genuine car (says the owner of a restored and non original R4 GTL...). Why anyone bothers with boring and predictable Fords and suchlike is unclear.
