5 speed gearbox fitting

some pictures of my attempt to fit a 5 speed box in a gtl. as you can see it's so annoying that it wont fit without surgery by just 20mm, I didn;t want to remove the whole front chassis member to do the job as is shown elsewhere on the forum so decided on this course of action. everything went ok until I went off for a test drive, only to come to a grinding halt after 2 km when the gearbox expired, I haven't stripped it down yet but think the crownwheel & pinion is gone !

I like the idea, did you reweld continously and replate the gearbox side of the chassis crossmember?

r5 gearbox fitting

yes but could only tack on the rear as there's no room for the welder, you will notice I had to cut down the R5 g/box mount and enlarge the mounting holes as they do not line up with the r4 chassis, I also drilled and fitted 2 additional small bolts at the top. It would be possible I think to adapt the r4 g/box mount by welding it to the plate that fits onto the 5th gear mounting this would bring the box out by another 5-8 mm

My 1397cc Yellow Peril F6 has decided to seize its 5 speed R5 gearbox. I need a replacement, does anyone out there have one or know were i can find another?.
On the bolted top plate is a identify round disc - HA1-003
