I'm not sure about the definition the review gives to Renault 4 drivers

the Renault 4 driver-base was much wider than that. It was a classless car, and definitely not one anybody drove to make any kind of a statement. And definitely not a schoolteacher's car

The Renault 4 was described very well by Phil Llewellyn (I think) from Popular Classics back in 1992. His article marked the end of production, and described the car as a classless holdall on wheels.

Does anyone remember the article or have a copy?
