Hello Everyone.

I just bought a 1984 R5 LeCar, in dubious condition from ebay. It needs work but having checked the underneath out last night, I'm surprised it's not much, much worse! It was bought sight-unseen. It's a project for myself and my 11 y.o. son so we're going to go for the easy wins first: get it running, get it to an MOT station and then see where we are.

Why an R5? A mate had a Gordini back in 1988. I've always had a soft spot for the Turbos, and then when I worked for Renault for a while and had use of a V6 Clio and a 182... well, that was it. Head says 'German', but the heart says 'French'.

Intentions? Gordini Turbo recreation.

I have some technical q's, as you might imagine! :)

Pictures please!!!

Mk 1 5's are sought after now and very rare. I had one as my first car, followed by a Le Car 2 (like yours). I now have an 81 5 GTL.

There is nothing quite like a mk 1

+1 on pictures, we like pictures (and weelcome to the forum btw!)

Mk1 R5s are what got me into Renaults in the first place. I had a Le Car 2 TL that ended up modified to look like a Le Car 2 Turbo - wider fergat wheels, front bumper, lowered and what have you. I'd still like another one now.
