Oily Problem

My Renault 4GTL '91 'Hyacinth' is giving me a problem, the level showing on the dipstick is not changing even after i've drained the sump. Could this be due to a faulty oil pump? any ideas?

Probably there is a little oil on the side of the dipstick tube. Try wiping the oil off the dipstick and trying again (a few times). Failing that - have you drained the oil out of the gearbox rather than the engine?

Won't be anything mechanically wrong as the engine isn't (shouldn't be) running when you check the oil so nothing mechanical is doing it's mechanical stuff.
