This is my new project. It´s my first car restoration project. Hope I will make most of work on it by myself. 1984 Austrian market Gtl, original condition, never painted or welded. Imported to Czech republic in 2001. Last owner used registration card from another car, because It wasn´t possible to make a registration of imported car older six years before our entrance to EU. Last MOT ended in 2004 and he canceled this registration card in 2008, last time when it was possible without wrecking of car. I am so happy that I found original Austrian Registration under a seat during cleaning. Now it´s possible to make a normal registration or registration like a Historical vehicle. I will start working on it in June after my Maturita (Czech A level). Hope that I will polish original painting to a good result and only repair some small places. Original painting looks good after washing. We have to buy with it also 1982 F4, seller needs to sell bought cars together. F4 is most rusted Renault I ever see. Lot of DIY remakes, rust under body filler and bad welded patches. Probably I will use spare parts and registration from It for another project - F4 Sinpar.

It is looking alright for car lying for long time.

Yes, under dust is a nice car with rust only on some typical places of chassis and on body is rust just on trunk corner and rear seatbelts mounting. Hope that engine will be OK, starter turns, but it don´t have a spark. I will try to start it next time with new spark plugs and another coil. I have it still in my friends garage far away from home. It will need some work, but I think it´s ideal project for start.

Great find and even better to find the documentation under the seat.

Those rear boot corners are tricky. Maybe you can salvage some 'U' section from another to weld in place?

Hi Otto! -seems a pretty good find. A "little" work and you be on your way there.. I see a F4 lurking in there too, Yours? -Reid.

Yes red F4 had to be buy together with this nice Gtl. F4 is in very bad condition, rust hitten with body filler. Will be use for spare parts and it have also usuable registration. We imported wreck of F4 Sinpar 4x4 last month from French. Sinpar is my dream from my adolescence. It is with less rust, but crashed. Worst think will be to repair side panels on box. But it´s another project, first I will restore this one Gtl, which doesn´t need too much of work. 20160326_160212.jpg 20160326_160214.jpg 20160326_160231.jpg 20160326_135358.jpg 12789943_1037696352943401_1838945256_o.jpg 12823184_1037696372943399_1171135891_o.jpg

Brilliant, I'd love a Sinpar F4 van too, one day perhaps I will attempt to rebuild one.

20160909_144340.jpg 20160827_160901.jpg 20160907_180221.jpg I tried to polish original paint. Result is good but there are some small dents on panels. I will try only local repairs and new protection paint. It's now completly dismounted and I will start welding chassic.

Otto,

Two things. Firstly that tatty old red paint has polished up a real treat, far far better than my faded old red R4. Secondly, I collect motorcycle (only) registration plates and see you have some on the walls of your workshop. If you can find a Czech motorcycle plate, I can send you a GB car or motorcycle plate in exchange.

I tried to weld front corner by myself and burned a hole on the end. So friend, car restorator came today and gave me some nice advices. I am welding beginner. We started working on rear left axle mounting and result is better. 80% of my work. 20160910_163100.jpg 20160910_173405.jpg 20160911_162542.jpg 20160907_180234.jpg 20160912_140457.jpg 20160912_152259.jpg
Hope I will improve my welding skills soon.

You'll need Carbon Argon mix for the gas assuming you are Mig Welding. Move at the right pace and keep everything clean. Hopefully you'll end up with nice flat looking welds without spatter

There are lots of variables but you'll find a way
Keep going ! :clapping:

You are already halfway there if you can get the metal to stick together. 'Pretty' will come later with more experience. (I'm talking as if I know what I'm talking about ;-) )

I actualy don´t have any old motorcycle plate. Only for motorcycle trailer Páv 100. I will look for some on vintage car/moto markets.

You have a single wheel Pav trailer? Wow, these are very rare here in the UK. If there no pics, it isn't true
