Window rubbers

Hi all. Looking at the window rubbers on the car, a '72 4L. All rubbers are original, and appear to be in good condition. Don't have an obvious zip in them.
But being old they have shortened by a centimetre or so. There is now a gap. My immediate response was to take them all out and replace with new. Then I saw the prices. So I ask is there an alternative fix or do I just have to bite the bullet. In the Fransoze catalogue there appear to be two types of window rubbers, one with a zip and one without. Are there any comments on this, has anyone got experience to advise which to go for. Mine are all black, and Fransoze appear to sell only silver zip. Any help and comments are appreciated.
