Evening All,

Does anyone have an exploded diagram available for this type of Zenith Carb for the 848cc late 70's R4's, that they could very kindly send me?

My carb got shaken to pieces whilst on a cobbled road in Bulgaria. Its was put back together in a sort of fashion whilst in Serbia, but I could swear that there is a spring missing on the throttle lever as it doesn't seem to sit quite right and appears to require more tension.

I've attached a photo of the offending element for clarity.

Thanks All.

Hi,
I have time to time problems with my carb(Zenith 28IF), yesterday again i tookit off and i believe that gap between part no 17(bush) and flap shaft is too big and sucking in extra air?
after measuring the bush hole(i guess 8,0...8,3mm) and shaft around7,6mm with a caliber tool i wonder where to findnew bush or what to do(shall i put a O-ring in the hole bottom)?

Hi or some. There is a company local to me called Carb care. They work all over tuning carbs, and reforming them back at the works. They are on the internet. They are very helpful. They can supply spare parts.

There is a 'clock' spring around the choke shaft:

old new mixturescrew from 1971 , difference in material 1977 and 1971 in throttle lever shaft sealing, 71 was made of plastic and 77 was of rubber.
did not help at aall to my running problematics, i did again a full service for carb, using wire, wifes steam cleaner and carb cleaner solution.
must be on electric side although the ignition has been checked with a timing lamp on the first cylinder plug wire

Hi,

Supricingly it works now wonderfully, changed plugs cleaned and adjusted, measured plug cords all and tightened them, one was a bit loose, now OK, but the spring end of the choke lever shat had left its hole, after reasssempling it everything started to work correctöy !
