    334-06 Gearbox identification

Hey Geoff nice work finding that, it'll make a big difference. Re MR145, this should help: https://madmansmanuals.co.uk/product/renault-6-mr145-r1181-workshop-manual-1st-edition-1970-supplement-7701429530-pdf-ebook-instant-download/ Its about 20 bucks, so probably worth it. Cheers Pieter

    More HP!!!!

So, I finally got an overhauled Solex 32 EISA carb and manifold onto Bete Bleu and I am very happy! Before: Standard 800-01 engine, Zenith 28IF (which previously came off a GTL. This car which was British delivered originally had a 26mm Solex which was just horrible). During: the inlet...

    Speedometer stopped working

It might be worth checking to see if the needle has stuck- they can bend or distort in heat until they are touching the surface of the speedo just preventing them from moving.

Bottom end and connecting rod bearing size

It will depend on whether your crankshaft has ever been reground- you won't know until you open it up and measure it. Also depending on condition it may need a regrind anyway.

    Odd misfire…middle of France.

Along the same lines if it persists could be a intake manifold air leak, loose carb or manifold bolts etc.

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

Thanks for that Angel. That makes sense. The other thing that points to it I think is the small restrictors on the outlet side. Based on that, there shouldn't be any issues siting it remotely.

    Billancourt variations

Well, to my great surprise I seem to have found myself a new old stock R6 camshaft- not unlike strolling into a forest glade and finding a unicorn poo with a set of hen's teeth embedded in it. The part number cited was 0428912900 which I believe is right but the seller listed it as being for...

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

Well, I got my hands nice and dirty. I can feel (and just see) the bottom flat hex head at the base of the distributor/oil pump drive tower. I assume that the top fitting (normally occupied by the oil pressure switch on the older engines) is the high pressure fitting going into the oil filter...

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

Definitely interesting. I will go for another fondle tomorrow. Since found the pics in MR 61.

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

Thanks very much for the pics Angel. Yes, you are right, it's bad enough just getting my hand in to feel what is going on! I would have to do hoses to a remote filter, if I decide to do it. There are remote spin-on filter bases available if I go down that route. The two latter ones...

    Busted Suspension

The end fitting that is broken is part number 7700554546. Same on r4 and r6. Available in Portugal: https://www.all2classic.com/product/details/forquilha-braco-inferior-suspensao-renault-4l Cheers Pieter

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

On the early -800 series Billancourt engines like mine (prior to about 1969/70 or thereabouts) there was no oil filter or provision for one. The equivalent Billancourt -670 engines for Dauphines apparantly had a couple of tapped holes capped off with setscrews that could be removed and an...

    Electronic ignition question

Hello folks, I'm thinking of putting a 123ignition distributor on my Billancourt engine and curious to see if anyone else has, and which version they bought. I'm thinking of reliability, and having multiple known Renault curves to choose from with the basic type vs having just one that I have to...
