32 dir Carb

Hi, does anyone know the purpose of the hose that goes in one side of the top of the float chamber then round to the other side and back in on the 32dir carb, I cannot see this pipe in any descriptions and pics of this carb that I have come across which makes me think that it is not as per original.

I have a solex 32dis... never heard of a 32dir...
Some days ago, looking for some info for a solex 32 eisa, I found this page:

Ops sorry I should have made it more clear, the carb is a weber 32 dir it's on a 1397cc gordini engine
