850 engine rocker shaft

My R6 Haynes manual states that to remove rocker shaft I need to undo a bolt from each end (see pic).
There are no bolts on the end of my rocker shaft (see pics), I assume they have been sheared off at some time in the past as there is not even a hole for a bolt to screw into.
I could try drilling them out and re-tapping them?
Anyone know what size/thread they are please?

Later engines did not have rocker shafts with threaded ends. You remove both shafts by removing water pump at the front end, rubber plug at the rear end, M5 retaining screws and tapping one shaft after the other out.

That's interesting, I've tried tapping the shafts from both directions and also using mole grips to try and turn/pull the shafts but no way can I get any sign of movement.

From photos, are they wire clips on the inside of shaft (silver little loops in photo) holding shaft in position?
