Gas struts for the tailgate

Has any one replaced the rear spring loaded arm that holds up the rear door with gas struts?

good point there, perhaps kangoo mpv ones would be big enough

I have seen it on a couple of R4s here. Both didn't allow the door to be opened as high as the original clockspring setup, though.

Gas struts are not vehicle specific, all one needs to know is their load capacity and free length.
