We have a little R4 1983 french born and now lives back in France after a trip to the UK.
I drove her to the garage yesterday for biannual Mot/CT.
When we arrived it was a bit obvious she was unwell coughing and missing. on opening the distributor cap we found the central contact was broken, the mechanic in the garage replaced offending article. He then proceded to tinker with the points, reset the gap. He also attache a stobe timing light and after a brief while suggested that all was as well as he could make it in the allocated time (Friday evening in Rural france, Iam sure you know the score.)
The little car idles fine but on any kind of acceleration she loses all but the slightest power. the mech said he thought it could be carburation problems.
The Quatrelle has a new dist cap and rotor arm fitted plugs all seem fine can anyone help please????
I guess getting any parts shouldnt be too difficult as lots of old renault garages around.
