The plastic door button guide or seal on my '79 le car crumbled apart this week. I was wondering if anyone has a source for these. I belive the european models had a more simple round grommet-like design, which would do for the time being. I'd just like to keep the rain (and there's plenty in Oregon) out of the door. 20151231_110838.jpg

I can't find any for sale - it is such a specialised part and with very few cars remaining nobody bothers to make them any more. Maybe Renault might have some in stock, but it is much easier to approach them with a part number and I don't know what it is.

Mine has a little plastic finisher which doesn't seal especially well but it doesn't seem to matter. I think the main purpose is to avoid contact between the button and the door skin so the paint doesn't wear away.

You could try searching for a thin plastic grommet with the dimensions you need and see what is available.

There are reproduction renault 16 ones available but not sure if they fit r5
Seem to remember that there were 2 diff diameters on push button on r5 so maybe us spec may be different again
Think some German cars had rubber safety surrounds on door but doubt you will find many mk1 5 parts easily these days

I adapted to my R5 some of those rubber parts round grommet-like parts. I got them locally, for who knows what other application. But it fitted quite well to my car. I can get you some, they would be around 2 to 3 US a set of two. Not really expensive, if you want to, I can send them to you by courier. Please quote freight by courier to your place from Mexico city (Envelope) and let me know.
