renault megane 1997

i have a renault megane 1.6 1997, i think there is a problem with the immobilisor.

The car will not start and the key does not turn off the imm or even open and lock the doors.

Can anybody help plz

Claire - I had to move your post to 'other Renaults' as you posted in the wrong section. Steve.

You will probably need to change the battery in the remote.

There is normally an emergency way of bypassing the immobiliser by typing in a number and using things like the pedals and stalks of your car, if you read the manual they normally tell you where the number is and how to use it to by pass the immboliser.
