Yes Tom, maybe I should join the "Baby Boomers", and do a Raid. It would be a great experience.
I note your comments David, but I'm still going to have a go at raising Marigolds' suspension. How hard can it be?

I wonder if its easier done with all the suspension off the car?

On R5s (and I suppose an R4 will be very similar) we used to get them up in the air so the torsion bar was at head height and then go at it with big hammers and a specially made drift. It still took hours and hours! Good exercise though!

If you put a lot of penetrating fluid on everything before hand then it might help free everything off.

Good point David, suspension off and a chance to do a bit of rust-proofing in the process. Anyway, this is going to be job for the winter months, in the mean time I'll enjoy Marigold as she is.

I agree it sounds like an over-winter job. Since all of the bushes and probably the ball joints in my suspension need replacing, I intend to do it all at once.
