Ok After having a chat with Gary, we've come up with half a plan!!

The proposed route we are going to take is via the channel tunnel.

Gary is going over to go over on the evening 14th of July and spend the evening at a local Calais B&B.

The Web Address is; http://www.hotel-bb.com/hotel_info?hotelId=4221

We're planning to come over early in the morning of the 15th and then we can set off and take a nice ramble through a mainly non motorway route.

Something like this? http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/web/It...1.3&autoConso=6.8&villeConso=6&routeConso=5.6

Now, this is a proposal at the moment, could we please use the other thread for discussion and leave this one clutter free so people can see the route easily?

The official dates of this third edition of INTERNATIONAL 4L have been circulating on the net. We therefore confirm that the 3rd 4L INTERNATIONAL will take place on 15,16 and 17 July next to THENAY (41).

RENAULT 4L MAG AND HISTORY COLLECTION will be our new official partner for this major event during which we celebrate together the 50th anniversary of our favorite car.

The 15,16 and 17 July!

Just been pondering the route.

Those of us starting from Calais will be off the ferry for 11.00. It'd be far nicer to have a relatively leisurely drive through the countryside but ViaMichelin says that takes 8 hours. Autoroute way is 5 hours.

So my questions to everyone are as follows -

1. Are we making our own way to Thenay or in convoy?

2. What sort of route would people prefer to drive?

3. Are we meeting with anyone travelling via Chunnel / Caen / Dieppe / Le Havre en route?

Your thoughts please!

I looked into it previously too, there is a route thread in the post above!

A convoy would be great and I'd reckon a bit of a mix of N road and Autoroute would be the best way.

At that rate, we'll need to take a bit of Autoroute or we'll miss a lot of the friday evening entertainment. A route something like this, taking only the non-toll sections of the Autoroute, might strike a good balance?

Driving in convoy should be much more fun than solo!

Ahh, I'll edit my post, as this is the proposed route thread ;)

It would be fun to convoy. There's plenty of route that won't be autoroute so my vote is to autoroute when possible. We can socialise at the services and still have plenty of time to set up tents when we get there. Don't fancy a Kent run approach.

^ Agreed.

As above, a convoy would be nice but it'll be very difficult to follow half a dozen cars in convoy for such a long way. Maybe a handful of stops to allow others to catch up or something.

I think it will be far easier to use the autoroute where possible. Its 500km from Calais to Thenay and I really don't fancy an eight hour drive if I'm honest as I'll already have done five hours before I get to Dover! And besides that, if you take the autoroute from Calais, down past Boulogne and in the general direction of Rouen its actually rather scenic (and very quiet).

Ok, been giving this some thought.

What about a rendezvous point on Friday PM somewhere south of Chartres on the N10 (dir Vendome) which would allow us to do the last 45 mins in convoy and arrive at Thenay en masse? Should work for those arriving from other ports as well.
