Steering rack rebuild?

Hello all. My Renault 4 steering rack has become a mess with leaky rubber boots and general "juicyness". I have been thinking about taking things apart and rebuilding, but did not want to open things up unless I have a source for info and parts. Has anyone here done a rebuild of this steering rack? How about a source for diagrams and parts? Can I buy an entire replacement rack somewhere? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

R 4 steering rack

I saw your message about availability of R 4 steering racks.

Do you still have them?
Also, the early ones from the sixties I have heard were a slower ratio than later ones.

Can you make a direct replacement of an early one with a later one that will result in faster steering?

I am interested in purchasing a good low mileage used one.

Dick, I think Liam just happened to have a good secondhand rack available for sale, I haven't seen him advertise anything for sale on here in a long time, I think he pretty much got rid of all the spares he did have.
