I agree, and if you go into any decent sports shop you'll see the walking shirts designed wick away the sweat and described as such on the labels. Another use of 'wick' is the noun used in Yorkshire to describe unwanted tough grass that grows in the garden.

A family arrived this morning to stay in our gite over Christmas in snowy Burgundy. They run a small gite very convenient for Le Mans. If anyone is looking for accommodation let me know and I can pass on the details.

It depends where you are, Ian. We only have to go a few miles in any direction to find a completely different style of house. If you cross the Saône it's like a different country. A gîte may also be available in a different part of France! :)
