    Thermostat

All thermostats are interchangeable. UK spec cars were fitted with an 83 deg. C thermostat.

    Tailgate seal

This isn't the correct profile shape for the tailgate seal, so there is no definitive answer to your question. At least try to install it in such a way that it matches as closely as possible the profile of the ends of the lower seal part.

It would be interesting if we could see a photo of the installed carburettor.

Renault 5 - Poor gear change, how to adjust fix?

Check also the linkage at the gearbox end of the lever. There used to be a service kit available with all the plastic bushes, washers etc. The connection between the gearshift lever (the part in your picture) and the lever rod that goes to the gearbox is held by a collar and is adjustable both...

Nice job, Joop! Twingos are always a PITA to work on, due to the very small bonnet.

    1963 4L torsion bars

They may had decided it was a useless expense, judging by the fact that R4s were intended to be used less and less on rural roads or off road.

    1963 4L torsion bars

JdeW, you can see the plastic sleeves Ian is talking about on the picture, its part number 6074087 and 6072477. They were fitted on all R4s up to around 1983 model year. Their purpose is more important than it may seem at first. Stress at a torsion bar when it is twisted is increased linearly...

I am looking for a spreadsheet on 334 transmissions

There was only one gear set for the 334 transmission: 1st: 3.800:1 2nd: 2.059:1 3rd: 1.364:1 4th: 1,036:1 Final drive was 4.125:1, no options available here, too.

    What gearbox do I have?

You are right, you have the tall geared gearbox fitted to latest 845cc cars ('84-'86). You will be fine if you find a 119 or 120 suffix gearbox as they have the "wide" gear ratio kit (lower 1st - taller 4th).

    Renault 750 carby thermal choke.

Hi Octavia. I guess you are referring to a 4CV with the Solex carburettor that doesn't have a choke flap and has an exhaust gas heated bi-metal spring. I think this will help you: http://4cv-renault.com/technique/starter/starter.html @JdeW: all bi-metal chokes work in reverse to what you wrote...

    VIN decoder

https://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/classic/index.html It's the parts book, not a VIN decoder - there is no VIN as such an these cars. You may be able to find what you need by looking at the changeover serial numbers or vehicle types associated with your car.

    Homegrown Garage Green One -75

This is a method of statically balancing wheels, which does not take into account lateral imbalance that can only be fixed by dynamically balancing a wheel. Problem is that, wheels without a centre hole (or with a smalll hole) need a special adapter to be fixed on a modern balancing machine...

R4F6 sagging to one side - advice

Front right hand torsion bar has sagged over the years. No need to replace it, just to reset the ride height, preferably at both front wheels.

    Rear wheel bearing seal

There is no practical solution other than to replace it. It can be replaced individually but is rather hard to find.

Oil and transmission oil ger plugs?

845cc engines have M18x1.5 thread plugs. Coincidentally, it's the same thread size used on oxygen sensors, and there are always shouldered plugs available at exhaust shops. Both gearbox plugs are tapered and seal by interference fit of their threads. There is no machined boss on the gearbox, so...
