    Disc Pad Springs

I've noticed that our local Halfords have a selection of disk pad springs but I'm not sure if any are suitable for an R4 but may be worth a look in Halfords.

    Kent Renault 4 Run 2007

Yorkshire Run Daisy if you don't make it onto the road by the Kent Run perhaps we could form our own Northern breakaway run later in the year here in sunny Yorkshire. :) We were hoping to take Blanche to Kent for the run on our way to France, but as trip has been delayed we almost certainly...

    Oil Filter

This site might help - http://www.wixeurope.com/catalogue/index.asp If you enter you model of car and then click on the filter number then all applications it should list the other cars that use the same filter. While on the subject I have found this site useful...

    Brake Master Cylinder

If as Steve says your F6 has the same master cylinder as the R4GTL the Renault part number (quoted for Ermintrude a 1984 GTL) is 7701 348 726 our original master cylinder has the number 311571 embossed on the side. In fact the replacement was for Blanche a 1990 LHD TL - it is now fitted and...

    Brake Master Cylinder

Hi hottie 643 - welcome to the forum I've just replaced the master cylinder on one of our R4's and our local Renault dealer would have been able to get us one - the price quoted was £75 (+vat I think  ) but in the end we got one off ebay for £27 + £6 postage :D . I think, looking at...

When to change air intake hose to summer?

Our handbook (1989) says to change the air intake position when the ambient temperature reaches +5°C - but this seems to be a little cool to me. Perhaps, as you have discovered, trial and error is the best way to set it!

    Rear brake binding

I think I may have answered some of my own questions - it dawned on me late last night that the main difference (only difference?) between the Girling cylinders and the Bendix is the type of fitting - Girling 10mm Bendix 3/8ths - mine seems to be 3/8ths. Chris

    Rear brake binding

Yet another little niggle with Blanche - but I think we're slowly getting her into good working order. I have a rear brake binding - having dismantled the brake I discovered a seized piston in the wheel cylinder - hopefully this will turn out to be the cause. Anyway my real problem was getting...

    Help where's reverse gear?!!

I've occasionally found with our R4's that if it doesn't go into reverse straight off I have to lift off the clutch pedal push it down again then try engaging reverse again. With the LHD cars the reverse position on the gear lever does seem to be well over to the right. You could always...

    White sludge

Hi Steve We only got the car a couple of months ago and up to that time it had only done about 3000 miles in the previous year - so it looks like it probably did lots of short journeys. And it did live in Glasgow where it's always cold and wet!!! Chris

    White sludge

I'm in the process of changing the oil in Blanche and have found white sludge under the oil filler cap and in the breather hose. The oil I've drained out of the car seems fine with no traces of the white sludge in it or in the oil filter. Is this something serious like a head gasket  - or...
