    Any one need wheels?

Stated to be for Renault 4CV, Renault Dauphine and maybe the Floride and Caravelle. He's threatening to bin them if not bought !! They look similar to 2CV wheels - possible?

    Made a start on MINTY

I found the window catch issue solved finally by using some Crystal Epoxy glue - such as in the photo. Still attached after more than a year. Not as invisible as the superglue, but it does work.

It's fine when the engine is out

Do I really need to dismantle half the car to get starter out

I had a prob where there was a push-connector going to the starter (the solenoid power cable), which became unplugged at speed

Another lovely view of the F6 undressed by a Renault Capture. I need a new pot of paint!

Renault 4 accident on the road

NO - plus she was rude and left any apologies to her son-in-law. One bright note was a lovely bus driver from MoreBus who wrote down his contact details and offered his dashcam footage after asking if I was OK (he was brave - he almost interrupted my red-mist rant at the other driver). I have...

Renault 4 accident on the road

No worries Malcolm - I fully intend to keep it one way or another but am having daymares with my insurers Post Office Insurance (brokers) - in no way do I recommend them; I have now cut them out of the loop altogether and am talking to their underwriter (Sabre Insurance), who seem more on the...

Renault 4 accident on the road

In the UK, the insuance cannot always tell me what to do. Since 2017, rules have been in place to list damaged vehicles in different classes according to the extent of the damage; The Association of British Insurers (ABI) Salvage Code goes into more detail on how vehicles are judged and what...

Renault 4 accident on the road

Simon of Renault Reborn has kindly suggested a value of £4000 for my van; he recently sold one for more than that. Am still hoping my insurers will decide it's ok for a garage to do the work. Simon's also after an early 1970's aluminium front grill to buy off someone - anyone have one spare?

Renault 4 accident on the road

Has anyone a good idea how to find out if the chassis & the suspension mountings on the left side are still in the right place etc? Rear wheels are staggered in the chassis, I know - just to make this a bit harder! Wing and so on seem to have taken most of the forces and the wheel and tyre...

Renault 4 accident on the road

Thanks Tomcat - I had been watching it for weeks before buying it; in the end my partner insisted I took a proper look as she was getting tired of me looking at it online! The garage didn't restore it to the level they suggested before they resprayed it - welding practice has been needed quite...

    Ethanol-mixed petrol

A lot of modern cars have plastic fuel tanks and fuel pipes, plus synthetic rubbers that tolerate ethanol mixes.

    Headlight adjuster

In my van, I found that load had no effect on beam height even with max load. Unusual for me, but quite reassuring! Although the rear went down, the front seemed to drop as well (my thumbnail photo to the left has the van with about 150Kg of tools in the rear; the front has lowered a bit...
