Back window locks the same as front ??

All locks are the same, but there are two types fitted: screw-on (the glass is drilled) and glued on. Components between types are not interchangeable. Because the earlier screw-on locks are more robust, it's rather common to fit earlier drilled front sliding glasses on later cars while keeping...

    Painting plastic door pockets.

It looks to be ABS. They can be painted with automotive paints after applying a "plastic primer". Also, Motip - I am sure others, too - have a range of spray cans named "Bumper Spray" that are suitable for direct spraying on plastics.

It's an easy job for a machine shop to manufacture a hub with the right holes for the steering wheel and steering column.

92 Clan 1100 Rear height adjustment

First of all make a tool as listed on the Haynes manual. Given the fact that the car is not that old, the bars may not be that hard to remove. Follow Haynes' instructions on this: remove the shock absorbers, let the suspension arm free and tap the bars out. Hint: for initial freeing of the bar...

    Billancourt variations

No, camshaft timing is the same as on the R4 800-05 engine, while on the R5 it's still "hotter" (20-56-53-23). Unfortunately, I have no data for valve lift, but you get an idea from timing figures.

    Head lining

The soft headlining is gripped by a metal channel that runs around the whole roof, exception being the front part over the windscreen. It has to be bent open so that the headlining edge can be removed. After putting on the new headlining, with the four rods in place, its edge is being inserted...

    Billancourt variations

Yes, on the 800-01 camshaft timing is 10-34-49-11 , while on the -05 it's considerably hotter (16-52-52-22).

    Diagnosing coolant leakage in oil

Here is the key to your problem. Almost certainly the head gasket has blown because it settled down as it should - that's why re torquing shortly after a head gasket replacement is imperative. Probably cylinder head is not warped but it wouldn't do any harm to check it. Head gasket replacement...

    Billancourt variations

Reverse is true. White metal bearings are softer and they allow foreign matter to embed itself in the bearing material without causing any damage to crankshaft journals. With aluminum/tin - harder - bearings, any particles carried in the oil and finding their way between the bearing shells and...

    Billancourt variations

Welcome aboard Aris ;-) First three digits refer to engine type. There was 680 for 747cc, 839 for 782cc, 800 for 845cc and so on. Suffix refers to engine ancillaries like carburettor, distributor, water pump etc in accordance with particular vehicle fitment. Either 800-01 or 800-05 types were...

No longer available / hard to find parts fabricating

Another one for the factory sunroof. Some years ago, a member of this forum, David, made some of these fixings and I was lucky to get hold of two sets. I modelled it after one of David's fixings and printed it in polyurethane. It's stiffer than rubber but still flexible enough to do its job...

Mostly plastic pipe clips as used on later cars. I have seen sheet metal hook style clips at some points, too.

    Rodeo Recommissioning

It's common to use plastic cages on low noise spec bearings. Certainly not suitable for wheel bearing application, though. I have seen them on gearbox input shafts on many modern cars, where it's very common to fail in exactly the same way as yours.

Not sure what the problem is...Any help would be appreciated

Check that, when the problem exists, 12 volts are reaching to starter motor solenoid when you turn the key to "start" position. This is the thin wire of the starter. If not, problem is either ignition switch itself, or wiring to starter motor. If you get 12V there, starter motor brushes are...

    Piston Arrangement

Pistons 3 and 4 have been assembled incorrectly, arrow should be pointing towards flywheel on all cylinders. Cylinder numbering starts from flywheel end on these engines. Connecting rod should also be fitted in relation to pistons in such a way that cap is towards camshaft (big ends are slant on...

    Tailgate support arm geometry

It should normally fold without having to "help" it, by just pulling the tailgate downwards. If it doesn't, chack that the pivot between the two arms is not sloppy, and also that the tailgate arm has not dug a groove at the spring loaded arm, where they meet each other. Correct way of refitting...
