tears and blood won't get fuel to flow

It's going to be something so simple that we are all going to be kicking ourselves once you find it

Also make sure your fuel hoses are good, and good for Ethanol (a % mix in petrol) use as well - some non-tolerant hoses can perish and crumble withing months internally and can cause part-blockages that can move around. Cohline makes suitable 100% ethanol-proof hoses. Accelerator pump rubber...

    Tube or Tubeless

"Hmmm, like using the spare parachute in my skydiving years though while base jumping I never carried a spare, just not enough height (or time) to deploy :D " EEEEEeeeek !

Also very important is not to use old tyres even if they look great. The rubber goes hard and less flexible and can break up or lose grip more easily than new tyres. I have actually felt the obvious difference in grip when changing from old tyres to new. Ten years and they are in the bin.

    Tappets

HI - well worth a look at this page: https://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/threads/hello-from-spain.1904/ as it points to some information you might find interesting. I have an 'Autopress' workshop manual and a 'Haynes' workshop manual - they both suggest 6 thou (0.15mm) for inlet valve; 8 thou...

Well done Nik - you seem to be using several rooms in your house to rebuild your engine :clapping: Best of luck, that was unfortunate with the cracks in your first Alpine engine :(

Drilling holes in footwells - to give water somewhere else to go.

I did that on both sides in desperation, but it was always going to be a bodge. Where I drilled (at the footwells front) went though a double skin it felt like, which is not good for keeping rust away. Water didn't come in that I noticed, maybe because when it rained, the floor was always...

How to clean Headlight interiors - Should you, any no no's?

I've not tried R4 headlight reflector cleaning, but have found other reflectors can be very delicate, and scratch with a finger-touch. Those were more modern though :ashamed:

    Water Temperature Gauge

Agreed, 100 degrees is not actually the usual boiling point in a radiator (pressurised and/or impure water boils at a lot higher temperature). At 10psi above atmospheric pressure (well within reason in a car cooling system), the boiling temperature is 115 degrees centigrade, probably higher when...
