    Fossicking in the garage.

Hello folks, here's an update on attempting to adjust the rear tracking. So ok, the left side which I recently worked on is probably easy to adjust, but the right side outer bearing housing, which I think has never been replaced is a different matter. I managed to undo two of the three bolts...

    Fossicking in the garage.

Well, I'm happy to report that Genevieve passed her MOT test yesterday with flying colours. Everything went back on fairly easily, although the arm did put up a bit of a fight, but once one bolt was in, it was plain sailing. I had the extra weight of the torsion bar to contend with as my garage...

    Vagabund

Well done fella, Clementine looks fab. Good luck with the MOT, a big day for you both.

    Fossicking in the garage.

Hello harbourseal, thank you for your kind advice, but I've managed to avoid removing the whole axle, and the fuel tank. When I cut what was left of the old bearing housing off I lost it's position on the swinging arm, and it was going to be difficult to align the new one. Luckily my good friend...

    Turning the engine over

Hi. I hope when you lifted the head you didn't inadvertently lift one or more of the liners also. To clamp the liners down you need some large washers or some other means to straddle the liners to hold them down when you turn the engine over. Good luck.

Hello Jim, long time no see, and good to hear from you. Yes and bad timing too, middle of car show season. Sods law I guess. It would be great to see you, so call me when you are down this way. My number is 07855996827 Regards Brian.

    Fossicking in the garage.

Hello Joop. Well, I've had a rethink, and as I'm not in a hurry to get the car back on the road particularly, I'm going to delve a bit deeper, and maybe take the tank off, and remove the back suspension, and do any other remedial work while it's in pieces. The car has served me well, with...

    Fossicking in the garage.

Bit drastic Adam, but I get your point, I'm hoping it won't come to that. As I said, the chassis seems ok, it's just the very end that needs a bit of attention. I'm not going to scrape too much underseal off though

    Fossicking in the garage.

Hello Joop, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately a bodyoff restoration is out of the question, so I have to make the best of what I've got, and hope there no hidden nasties which I can't see, but of course there probably are. I enjoyed the tutorial, just wish I'd taken photos before I...

    Fossicking in the garage.

Can of worms. Greetings guys n girls, I've not been on here for a while, but I've kept an eye on what's been going on. In Brians little world it's been quiet, but last week I took the GTL for its MOT, and for the first time in 5 years of ownership it failed. Left hand trailing arm outer bearing...

    R4 meeting Foligno (Italy) June 2022 =)

Just wondering Sprackers, are you going to this event? If so be prepared for an amazing time with our Italian R4 friends. Wish I could join you, and if you are going to Beaulieu on 17th July, catch up with you there, and hear about your trip. Kind regards Brian

    Road trip to Italy anyone?

I took two weeks to do the trip David, and the total mileage was around 2800, an amazing experience.

    Renaultoloog 2022

Yes I'm hoping to go, but in the trusty R4 of course. She's just taken me to Italy, so a trip The Netherlands will be a doddle. I've also been before, nice show, can thoroughly recommend it.

    Road trip to Italy anyone?

As I thought, I was the only one from outside Italy. Maybe next year some of you might be more adventurous. But I won't hold my breath. Had an amazing time with our Italian R4 friends. Bellissima!!

    R4 meeting in Germany.

Good luck with that Philip. But don't hold your breath. Unfortunately I can't make it. I'm currently on my way to the Italian event, so better not push my luck too far, but I'm hoping to do Renaultoloog in The Netherlands in September.

    Road trip to Italy anyone?

Is there anybody on here, apart from our Italian friends of course, going to this event, or am I the only one? I'd love to be proven wrong.
