Just a real quick update. Later on I will post a little more detail. The engine hasn't ran yet, still need to fix the brakelines and bumpers etc. A very happy new year to y'all! Rutger.

how do you get the bonnet up, where is the switch?

You have to push a knob just next to where the gearshift comes in the cabin!

    R4 restoration made in France

I did exactly the same things on my car. How else would you wanna do it? Oh, now I see this last post. Don't bother using a part from another car, since I can't imagine that that will be in a good enough condition. Sooner or later that part will start to rust (more layers of metal on top of...

    R4 restoration made in France

Hey Alexandre, I had similar problems with both my new front and rear wings, I just persuaded them into position and fastened the bolts in a strategic way. In the end you'll be able to get them where you want them, the sheetmetal is pretty bendable. It's just a really nasty job. Use...

Looks like a 4 to me, and even so, we could also pretend it's one!

Going to be a big job! But I'm definitely curious how you're going to do! Good luck with it.

    R4 restoration made in France

Hmm, that TL looks like it could use some work. If the roof hasn't been rotten through, it should be fixable though! But i guess it's pretty far gone right? That 0.8 mm sheet metal can't take a lot of rust or it'll be rotten through pretty soon. Personally, I'd give the 1967 a try first...

    Restoration 1984 R4 GTL Rutger-peer

Thanks Cornish! I've been busy this weekend again. Weekend before that I had exams, which I passed, so that's a good thing. I now plan to be ready before Christmas, which I think might be my first realistic deadline haha. I put in the windscreen and redid the upholstry on the driver's...

    Renault 4L van restoration

Ah okay. Well, in case you can find a piece of laminate glass, having a window for your R4 cut the right size by someone who can do that, having one cut would be an option :p. But I guess that's not really economic ;).

1985 Renault 4 GTL rebuild - Where to start?

They've got those weld-in parts in Germany, DerFranzose.de or reportedly also at reno4er.de. Here in the Netherlands they've got them at Wind classics or my local R4dealer. Don't know where to get them in England though. Probably Malcolm knows, he also used those parts in his restorationprocess.

    Renault 4L van restoration

A good car window is multilayered in order for it to break instead of shatter in case of accident. When it bursts you don't want it to come down in large razor-sharp pieces, but you want it to burst but stay in place. In other words: a car window isn't just a piece of glass cut the right size.

    Restoration 1984 R4 GTL Rutger-peer

Hey all, Did some work on my 4 yesterday again. A friend of mine helped me during the morning. We installed the cabletree (right word?) and we attached the backlid. My friend inspected the main brake cilinder, which turned out to be usable luckily. Later on I installed the backseat, the rest...
