Hi, not sure what you mean by "the old petrol ", but if you use higher octane E5 you shouldn't have any problems. If you also use an anti ethanol product, for example Millers Oils one, which also has an octane booster, your engine should run smoothly. Some R4 engines suffer from fuel evaporation...

One thing is pretty sure, you're not going to find a new engine. If you buy a supposedly rebuilt one you can't be certain its been done to the correct standard, causing you more aggro down the line. I would say your best course of action is to get your engine rebuilt by a reputable engine...
