    Gear Shift Bush Kit

Thanks everyone. That makes sense. BTW Has anyone been able to buy the firewall inner nylon one recently? Apparantly the p/n is 7705002032, but last time I tried, no luck. It seems stuff can diappear off dialogys, or rather Renault dispose of the parts from their central system, so for example...

    Gear Shift Bush Kit

Thanks Petak, your stuff is looking very shiny! (as usual!). The little bushes are too small to fit in the firewall. The only thing I could possibly think of is that one of them can go on the lever coming out of the gearbox to try and reduce the free play between the gearbox box lever (they just...

    Gear Shift Bush Kit

HI all, I've just bought a gear shift bush kit as shown below. It's for the joint between the lever into the box and the lever that comes forward over the engine. I know what the upper two bushes are- LH outer rubber and RH inner nylon (although this one is black, not white as usual). But what...

    R4 Suspension Upgrades

I agree- I put the fatter (16mm instead of 12mm dia) front antiroll bar and the van rear antiroll bar on and it made a huge difference. Part nos were 7700717922 for the front and 7700554727 for the rear. The part nos for the four brackets for the rear are 7700525240. Also the deCarbon shocks...

    Spare parts

Don't be too hard on Retro Passion- August is the very worst time of the year for them- everyone has just cleaned out all their bits to put on their "Raid" cars over the holidays and all the manufacturers are now on holiday and they can't restock. Having said that I know its frustrating, I'm in...

    New chassis anyone?

Fantastique! They deserve to do really well with this. It wouldn't take an awful lot more to make a new rodeo or plein air.....

    Criminal damage

You might be better off not even claiming- the damage looks less than what a likely excess will be. The car looks perfectly safe, it is non structural damage. Don't let the insurance co write it off. I would be surprised if they did, it would cost them money. The dent at the front of the roof on...

Plein Air gearbox - which one?

Geoff they came out with the 334. 354 didn't come until the pleine air was replaced by the rodeo.

    R4 tl engine

Foofighter, a zenith 28IF carb from a GTL will fit OK on an 850. The only things that are really different to the 850 are the jets and they're hardly different at all. You will maybe have to plug up some of the emission control pipes from the carb depending on what are fitted to your car.

    Lenses

I just bought some of the orange front lenses. Absolutely terrific. Incredible value for money. By the way, Renault did the clear ones in plastic as well as glass. Piet

    Renault Rodeo Parts enquiry

Hi, given its a body part you may not have any luck with Renault as they didn't do the body parts. If Melun retro-passion in France can't help I'd suggest looking in the yellow pages for an automotive glazier- someone who does bus, truck, and panel van windows. They could cut a flat laminated...

    Pope's got a Renault 4

Hey, we always knew it was economical, but it turns out to be waaaaay ecumenical too!

    Bonnet Hinge size question

Hey Geoff from a fellow Melburnian, Ignore this if you already know but I found I can order heaps of R4 parts from the spare parts dept at City Automobiles in Richmond provided I can come up with a part number for them and they don't have to go searching. (Eg recently had to get new rear...

    Gearbox swapping and driveshafts

Hi Angel, thanks for weighing in ..... Rats! I was hoping that wasn't the case. When you say they are a tight fit, you don't know roughly how much can the inner end be pulled outwards from its detent before it gets solid? I don't want to pull a torsion bar out, but I might do a kinematic layout...

    Gearbox swapping and driveshafts

Thanks for the thoughts but... I think any other 334 will be just as stuffed. Plus if I put an unknown box in I'd be replacing seals and bearings as a precaution, to ultimately get something just as bad if not worse! Also, I have been double declutching for years now, and even doing that you...

    Gearbox swapping and driveshafts

Hello all, I am getting to the point where I will have to swap my gearbox. I have a late '67 4 speed car with a 334 gearbox which is losing all its synchros and a new 354 gearbox I bought from Renault some years ago in anticipation. So, you say? So far, so peachy, stop boasting... The...

engine used in a toro mower

The engine shown in the link is the renault 800-01 engine which is the export 845 cc engine used in 4's in the early 70's to eighties. It should confirm it on the engine ID plate on the distributor side of the block. These were the same as the car engines except they were fitted with a different...

    Renault Twizy wheels and tyres

I notice the Twizy has 13" wheels with 3 studs, and they fit 145/80 x 13 on the rear and 125 x 13 on the front, also they do both steel and alloy rims..... any chance of them having the right stud pattern/offset for an R4? Just curious

    Brake servo for R4?

What I reckon you need is a remote booster as Malcolm said: this page shows some available in Australia, there would be local equivalents in the UK and Europe. http://www.hydroboost.com.au/boostertypes.htm I put one (or rather PBR, the OEM, did it)- a VH44- on the front circuit only of a...

    Sunroof sheetmetal work

Thanks very much for all your replies guys. I think if I did go ahead, I would try to emulate the original roof- which means I might well not go ahead! Cheers Piet
