No spark, what am I missing

Continuity test doesn't work when you have voltage

No spark, what am I missing

Sounds like it should work. Is there a ground missing? Plug grounded to engine as you test and engine grounded to battery.

No spark, what am I missing

Battery should be to positive of coil not distributor.

    Blanche

Good to hear news about Blanche. Do post some photos in her new home. Bluebell bought her from Glasgow in maybe 2005 and took her to France (dept 71). She came back here after the liner seals failed and I rebuilt the engine then passed her on to Richard who fitted some other shiny bits...

    Rodeo Fuel Problem

Figured it out (I think). The fuel level in the feed pipe was falling below the pump so I was pumping air. The pump isn't even priming now when I try to start so it's going to be a bad fuel pump. Going to try replacing it with an electric fuel pump.

    Rodeo Fuel Problem

I checked the float valve and it seemed OK and I cleaned it up and blew air through just in case. Blew air through the filler cap vent hole just in case. The car seems to be working but I'm not sure I found any problem. Probably is going to be something that got stuck or something to to...

    Rodeo Fuel Problem

I'll have a look at the float chamber valve. If it is sticking closed I can see that causing the problems I had with both starting and driving.

    Rodeo Fuel Problem

There is a weird thing going on with the Rodeo. I took it out to the supermarket at the weekend for it's first trip of the year (7km). It took a long time to start when I got back to the car. I moved it to the petrol station and filled up and it took a couple of minutes to start. Drove...

what's happening in the Netherlands so far.

Blimey. I sprained a wrist and was out of action for just a few days and I found that annoying enough. Your injury must be very frustrating.

Renault 5 - Poor gear change, how to adjust fix?

I think that kit is for the early R5. Yours will surely be based on the Super 5 and have a transverse engine. Cable linkages were common in the late '80s but I'm not sure what was used in the Super 5.

LED tail lights on my 4.

LED tail light bulbs are easy and they make a lot of sense. Just buy some and replace the original bulbs for extra brightness. Indicator bulbs are more difficult as they require a different flasher unit, and it's tricky to find one that allows the indicator warning on the dash to work...

    POWER or lack of!

You can test for a blocked main jet. Car should run to some extent on throttle with the choke but not without the choke.

    Who can rebuild engine?

Did the head gasket get torqued down again after a few hundred miles? They do need that after settling. Assuming that wasn't done and there is no water in the oil then checking the head for flatness and another gasket might fix it

New R4 EV- not as horrible as I was expecting

I have both R4 and R5. I like the new R5. It's a city car like the original and not excessively large. The styling of the original car was quite modern and the new one would have been a bit cleaner had they lost some of the turbo cues but it's reasonably true to the first R5 in intent...

early and late rear suspension interchange

You can fit the late rear suspension on an early car. I think the late chassis has a couple less mounting holes so it's the early suspension that won't fit the late chassis.

    Rodeo Recommissioning

The frame is painted and fitted. I found some excellent photos that showed there were extra tubes supporting the top of the windscreen from the forward hoop. I've added these in and they allow the hood to be tensioned. We've had a lot of flooding so here's a photo of the Rodeo next to a...

how do u set up and replace front torsion bar drivers side r4

You would ideally need a torsion bar unloading tool like this https://www.renault4.co.uk/torsion-bar-tool.htm It is easiest to fit the torsion bar with the hub, damper and tie bar removed from the lower suspension arm. You might just about get away with a large adjustable spanner after doing...

Interesting write up in this months practical classics

The Renault 4 is definitely a classic. I posted pictures on the MIG welding forum and a few people said they would like a Renault 4. They were surprised at how expensive they have become.

    Rodeo Recommissioning

It's finished (nearly). I made some adjustments to the rear hoop so the hood fitted, then mounted the middle hoop with a pain of geometry. The hood kind of fits. It's a bit loose at the sides, but the hoods on Rodeos always look like a relaxed fit. I can tension the top reasonably well...

    Rodeo Recommissioning

I didn't get as far as I wanted at the weekend. I've made all the brackets but have only fitted one of the stays for the rear hoop. The frame is fiendishly complicated with the tumblehome angles. Also I'm not following the original design just loosely following photos so there is a lot of...
