Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

Thanks very much for the pics Angel. Yes, you are right, it's bad enough just getting my hand in to feel what is going on! I would have to do hoses to a remote filter, if I decide to do it. There are remote spin-on filter bases available if I go down that route. The two latter ones...

    Busted Suspension

The end fitting that is broken is part number 7700554546. Same on r4 and r6. Available in Portugal: https://www.all2classic.com/product/details/forquilha-braco-inferior-suspensao-renault-4l Cheers Pieter

Remote Oil Filter, early Billancourt Engines

On the early -800 series Billancourt engines like mine (prior to about 1969/70 or thereabouts) there was no oil filter or provision for one. The equivalent Billancourt -670 engines for Dauphines apparantly had a couple of tapped holes capped off with setscrews that could be removed and an...

    Electronic ignition question

Hello folks, I'm thinking of putting a 123ignition distributor on my Billancourt engine and curious to see if anyone else has, and which version they bought. I'm thinking of reliability, and having multiple known Renault curves to choose from with the basic type vs having just one that I have to...

Engine overheating and rusty water pump

Very nice! What are the front wheels/knockoff hub adaptors from?

    De marco engines?

I think that's the wrong engine. You need the larger 5 bearing engine for an F6.

Annoying rattles at the rear.....Any ideas????

Thanks Angel- Interesting! Given they are so thin the two thin bush sections must be fairly marginal in torsion. I assume the fat section gets clamped between the two inner brackets on each side?

Annoying rattles at the rear.....Any ideas????

....And going back to previous posts I found one from myself where soon after the bushes were "changed (????)" I applied rubber grease. But this raises the next question, for when I eventually do something and change the inner bushes- nowhere can I find any reference to lubing the...

Front Torsion Bar Tools in Australia?

Thanks Petak! Very useful site, and the Wirehead one he refers to also. I pulled the pin and bought a tool online.

Front Torsion Bar Tools in Australia?

Does anyone in Melbourne or Adelaide have the Renault (or knockoff) tools for removing and replacing front torsion bars? I'm just trying to determine what my options are for borrow/make/buy might be. My car is '68 4 speed model built late '67, so I believe it still has the bolt rather than cam...

Annoying rattles at the rear.....Any ideas????

Thank you all gentlemen! We have an answer. It seems to be principally inner torsion bar bushes with a small side helping of front shocker eyes. I initially dismissed bushes out of hand because I had had all the rear torsion bar bushes replaced- or so I thought! I started out jacking up the car...

Annoying rattles at the rear.....Any ideas????

I have been hunting these down for a while but to no avail. On each side of the car, below the rear seat, at about where the rear suspension mounts are, are two seperate rattles driven by road surfaces. They are coming from below the floor (confirmed by trusty sidekick lying on boot floor as we...
