hi does anyone know how you get from the 34bhp to the bigger one or am I. Barking up the wrong tree

To improve 10hp you can try fitting manifold and carb from an r5...

as replied to above you need a r5 carb [32mm] plus the inlet/exhaust manifold plus another distributer R298 + 1 or 2 other curve nos. lastly a r5ts carb/manifold /dist will give you 65 bhp but a very bad fuel consumption !

You don't need the distributor. It's only the R5 carb and manifold you need and economy is good. Don't use the R5 TS parts as they are for a larger engine.

Many thanks for the advice just one further question any idea what the model number is so I can get one

Thanks

Brian

I beg to differ the curve for a r4gtl is different than a r5 and you wont get the same performance from a r4 dist. after all that's why you are changing ?? r5 models to check out for a dist are R1225/r1226/ and r1224 for the ts or of course go for an electronis dist with variable curve

Hi I ve got a 123 distributor so I guess that helps so do I just get are r5 carb and ask my garage to do the rest
Please
