6v first series starter to 1100cc engine

Hello everyone
I can get a starter ( operated by cable ) from early R4 and was wondering If I could somehow adapt it to work with 1100cc engine ( Would need change for 12v ) But I am more concerned If it will fit and turn the crank the right way round ?
Any suggestions ?

Don't the engines turn In totally opposite directions for starters

That's what I thought too And I am not sure if the old one had two bolt mounting while the 1100 three. Guess I could make fake cable starter with electric switch at the end activated by the cable
