Hello, I am now the proud owner of Minty, r4 gtl !!!! On lifting the bonnet, I discovered a spring hanging from halfway down the gearchanging stick, strange........... Any idea where it is supposed to attach to? Bit of a mystery, as it doesn't seem long enough to reach anywhere. Feel like it should though, does it help the gearstick in any way? Any ideas, Please Minty

Hello Minty! Yes the spring is there for a reason. To take some slop out of the linkage and to provide a 'bias' to the control. My car is right hand drive so looking frm the front the spring would go to the right. Not sure of the exact location it attaches as my car is all in pieces at the moment! Maybe someone can provide a photo?

Hello to all! Thanks for the replies, difficult without a photo, I agree. I have attached the spring (somewhat stretched) to the nearest thing possible, it has made a difference to the gearstick, not so floppy now, so hoping I'm on the right track. Minty and I, are getting to know each other, driving her to work in the mountains is fantastic. Had lots of people say how lovely she is, very proud. Have just come in from checking the rear wheel barings (with help from my husband) think I might treat Minty to some new ones. She us receiving lots of love.
