Brakes Seized On

Trying to move my car from the garage for the first time in about 15 years.

The brakes are seized on solid.

Just managed to get the wheels off (not all at the same time) and have been skelping the shoes with a rubber camping mallet which has had no impact. Before I get the mash hammer out, which is weighty is there anything else I should be trying

I had the same problem with my brakes, they were fused to the brake drum. I tried everything for about a day and then a neighbour lent me his drum puller. Basically 3 arms that clamped to the edges of the drum and a bolt in the middle. Screwing the bolt inwards, popped the drum off in about 20 seconds. It was incredible!
At that stage I priced one and it was pretty expensive. However, there are a lot of people on Youtube who have fashioned their own drum puller so you might get some ideas from them.
For the back wheels, Andy's method will probably work. Thats what I did and it came off quite easily.
The front wheels are worse because the car's handbrake was probably used and the brake pads were pulled tightly against the drums

Use a heavy hammer/steel mallet to minute move the drum AFTER pouring HOT OIL on the drum (just the exterior -Top to bottom (by gravity)).
Heat the oil (used/food grade whatever) to over 200ºC and pour slowly and carefully.. HIT the rusty drum diagonally till it gives.. then.. you know!
 
Managed to get her started and managed to move her outside and then back into the garage.

The tyres are perished and a mish mash of manufactures. I plan to put 4 new ones on this week. Any recommendations? Currently on 135/80 R13 70 T.

I can’t open the rear door as the handle has been snapped off. Any ideas how to replace this ?

All in all in decent shape

Might I suggest Firestones? My Daf has the same size wheels and I fitted a set of four when away on a rally a couple of years ago. They're good quality tyres and the car felt much more stable once they were on. A word of warning though.... Dafs, Renaults and quite a few other continental cars need a special device to balance the wheels, as there's no hole in the middle of the wheel. I know a tyre depot in Chingford that dost have such a device, and, perhaps more importantly, a guy "mature" enough to work it. I appreciate Chingford's quite a run from Tunbridge Wells, though!
